DOVES: The Universal Want

Working directly with the band, management and the team at EMI, full media relations support was provided to Doves as they released their first album in over a decade in September 2020. The Universal Want, the band’s fourth studio album, was subject to a four-month media relations campaign delivered across national print, online and regional media with coordination of international partners.

Online media reception at launch, tied to the release of first track, Carousels, was widespread and carried internationally. News hits ran alongside a forensic album campaign, covering all key targets across the UK written media landscape, resulting in a wide-range of on- and off-line features including The Independent, NME, Uncut, Q Magazine, Metro, The Line Of Best Fit and a ‘full house’ of national reviews in the UK music media.

A creative news making initiative, leaking the sheet music for an unheard album track for fans to decipher was included as a key part of the campaign that kept the band in the public eye when touring wasn’t possible.

Doves, Universal Want, was the UK Official Album Charts Number One on Fri 18 September 2020.
