Pete Fowler has provided numerous images for bands including Super Furry Animals and The Horrors, as well as numerous collectors toys, book covers and animations. A homecoming exhibition took place at Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff in December 2012. Media relations activity hinged around an interview day at Pete’s studio and devising feature ideas with editors, covering art, design and music press, reflecting on the artist’s career.
An interview with BBC Radio 6 Music set the ball rolling. Print coverage appeared with a page and a half in NME, a This Is Fake DIY double page spread, the cover of Blueprint Magazine and a page of reflection in Digital Arts Magazine. Online outlets including Design Week, Computer Arts, The 405, Q Magazine and Sabotage Times added further to the weight of coverage.
Pete Fowler: “I had the honour of working with Rob on my art exhibition at the Wales Millennium Centre and he’s by far the best PR person I’ve worked with to date. I think the advantage with Rob is his in depth knowledge of art, design, music and culture. Us both being on the same page with our goals for the show and it’s coverage made it a very smooth and rewarding experience. I can’t really think of anyone I’ve worked with that has hit every single target he set and my exhibition benefitted enormously from his expert work and enthusiasm, It also helps that he’s a really nice chap. I’d happily work with him again and would recommend him highly to anyone looking for a dedicated and switched on person to help take a project several steps upward.”
Nia Jones, Communications Manager, Wales Millennium Centre: “Rob was brought on board for the Pete Fowler exhibition due to his music and visual arts PR background. Rob’s genuine passion for the project, and belief in the artist and his work was evident from day one. His experience and expertise in these two fields became immediately clear; as soon as the brief was supplied, Rob ran with every opportunity possible, seeing the potential and securing effective media nationally. We have been thrilled with the profile that he has secured for us at Wales Millennium Centre, and for artist Pete Fowler. Rob was not only a pleasure to work with, but one of the best PRs that I’ve worked alongside in a very long time.”
